I hadn’t really given this question much thought before today. Do you know the average weight of a chicken egg? I didn’t, until I looked it up.
According to Wikipedia, an average large egg in the US weighs 57 grams. A jumbo egg is about 71 grams. Why do I care about this? Well, Jeff brought in today’s haul of eggs and showed me one that seemed unusually big. We were curious, so I weighed it on my food scale.
I don’t know if you can see it or not, but the scale reads at 108 grams. That isn’t large and it isn’t jumbo. It’s omg-that-had-to-hurt. Seriously. As someone who has given birth 5 times, I think I feel sorry for that chicken.
The picture at the top of the page is that omg egg next to an average large egg (58 grams). Quite a difference!

Thanks for stopping by! ๐ Always an adventure here.
Holy cow! I bet that did hurt! I wonder if it’s a double yolker??
Very possible! Though it seems like the ones with double yolks are more elongated. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow at breakfast. ๐
